We give opportunities to young people who either missed out on schooling in their earlier years, or who have found it difficult to engage with mainstream education.

We set up lessons to support the young people’s education needs in house and encourage them to access college and apprenticeships. Education and employment gives young people self-confidence and the freedom to break the chains of the past and live the life they want. This means they can make a valuable contribution to society and their community.

At Bridging the Gap, we realise that young people without an education struggle to find work and are more likely to commit crime, suffer from depression and can become homeless. We have an excellent relationship with Mid Kent, Nacro and the Princes Trust.

Staff will ensure Educational Health Care Plan’s (EHCP) are relevant, up to date and tailored to meet the needs of the young person. We support the young person in attending their named educational provision.

VSK is contacted via the young person’s PEP meetings and they can offer advice and alternative education and employment.

We support the young people in;

  • CV writing, job search, application forms and interview skills
  • Advice on relevant bursaries
  • Support with decision making readiness for work, education of study.
  • Help with applying for jobs, college, apprenticeships and other training opportunities
  • Access to computers, printing, and telephones
